About Urban Escape Luxury Cars

Our story

Urban Escape was founded in Nairobi in 2018, and it has been woman-owned from day one. Since then the fleet has kept growing, and so has the list of people who trust us: families coming home, business travellers, and organisations including the United Nations (UN), the U.S. Embassy, foreign governments, the Kenya Police and Kenya Airways.

Built for Kenyans coming home

Most of our clients, around 70%, are Kenyans living abroad. When you book a car from abroad, you are not just renting a car. You are trusting us with your family's safety, your business schedule and your peace of mind. We understand what that means, because our service is designed around it: book before you fly, pay in the way that suits you, and find your car waiting when you land.

We look after Kenyans living in the USA, the UK, Europe, the Gulf and beyond, coming home for Christmas, weddings, family visits and holidays upcountry. We also look after business travellers and visiting professionals who need a reliable car, or a driver, from the moment they arrive.

A curated fleet, not a car park

Every car in our fleet is a 2019 model or newer, and each model earns its place for a reason. At the heart of the fleet:

• The Toyota Land Cruiser V8: the executive 4x4, for presence, comfort and long drives upcountry.
• The Toyota Land Cruiser Safari: our game-drive vehicle, and the only car in our fleet allowed on game drives in the Maasai Mara and other parks.
• The Toyota Prado: the versatile 4x4, for the city one day and the long drive to the Maasai Mara the next.
• The Toyota Alphard: a lounge on wheels, in seven- and eight-seat versions, for families, airport transfers and VIP guests.
• The Mazda CX-8: seven seats and a quiet, premium cabin.
• The Mazda CX-5 and Toyota Harrier: stylish, economical SUVs for the city.

Around them, we also offer Mercedes-Benz saloons and a Porsche Cayenne for special occasions, everyday cars for errands and longer stays, and vans, pickups and a bus for groups and practical jobs. See the full fleet.

Safe, serviced and tracked

Before every rental, each car is serviced, maintained and cleaned inside and out, with its tyres, engine, brakes and fluids checked. Every car has GPS tracking and an anti-theft system. Our support line runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and if a car ever breaks down, we guarantee a replacement. Every car also comes with comprehensive insurance covering damage to third parties, and unlimited mileage.

Delivered to you

There is no rental desk to queue at. Share your flight details and we track your flight, so our driver is there to greet you in the arrivals area at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). We also deliver to your hotel, or to your home or your family's home, across Nairobi, including Westlands, Kilimani, Lavington, Karen, Gigiri, Runda and Upper Hill, and we collect the car wherever suits you when you are done.

At handover we show you the spare wheel and jack, and our driver films a video walkthrough of the inside and outside of the car. We encourage you to film one too, so everything is clear when you return it.

WhatsApp-first service

Our clients live across many time zones, so we work the way they do. WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us, for a quote, a question before you book, or help during your hire. You talk to our team directly, not a call centre. You can also call us or email if you prefer.

The Urban Escape promise

• Honesty above all. Your quote is all-in, with no hidden fees, no last-minute price rises and no "tourist pricing". Your reservation deposit is fully refundable if your plans change before you accept the car.

• Safety and reliability. Every car is serviced before every rental, tracked, and backed by a replacement car if it has a manufacturer (mechanical) issue.
• Service built for the diaspora. Airport pickups, flexible payment by cash, card, M-Pesa or bank transfer, and a team that answers on WhatsApp.

Self-drive or chauffeur-driven

Drive yourself, or sit back while one of our chauffeurs takes the wheel. Our drivers are professional, vetted, long-term members of our team, and many repeat clients ask for the same driver every time they come home. Every car can be booked either way, within Nairobi and throughout Kenya, for airport transfers, business travel, weddings and family trips.

In an industry often known for shortcuts, we take pride in the details: clean upholstery, good tyres, a punctual handover and a quick reply when you need us. We look after our fleet with the care that makes your journey as smooth as the cars themselves.
